Discover Mandarin. Explore the World.
Meaningful Mandarin learning through stories, music, nature and real-life experiences.
At Happy Chinese, we believe children learn a language best when they are curious, engaged and confident to express themselves. Through play, exploration and meaningful interactions, we create joyful Mandarin learning experiences for children in Singapore.

About Us
A place where children discover the joy of Mandarin.
Happy Chinese was founded with a simple belief:
Children learn a language best when they feel curious, connected and confident.
Our programmes move beyond traditional language instruction by creating meaningful opportunities for children to experience Mandarin through stories, music, play, nature exploration and real-life interactions.
Inspired by child-centred and inquiry-based education, we see every child as a capable and curious learner.
Our role as educators is not simply to give children answers, but to create an environment where they feel safe to ask questions, explore ideas and express themselves.
Whether a child is discovering Mandarin for the first time or strengthening their primary school foundations, we aim to make every learning experience engaging, meaningful and enjoyable.
Our Mission
To help children develop the confidence, curiosity and ability to use Mandarin meaningfully in everyday life.
Our Vision
To create a Mandarin learning community where children enjoy learning, confidently communicate and remain curious about the world around them.
Programmes
Learning Mandarin, Naturally
Every child learns differently. Our programmes combine language learning with stories, music, movement, nature exploration and interactive activities, helping children build confidence while developing a genuine interest in Mandarin.

Nature Explorers
Explore Nature. Discover Mandarin.
At Happy Chinese, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond the classroom.
Nature Explorers is an outdoor Mandarin programme designed for young children to discover language through nature, observation and hands-on exploration. Instead of learning vocabulary only through flashcards or worksheets, children encounter Mandarin in real and meaningful situations.
During each session, children may observe plants, insects, colours, shapes, textures and seasonal changes. Teachers guide them to notice details, ask questions, describe what they see and share their discoveries in Mandarin.
What Children Will Experience
🌿 Nature Exploration
Children explore the natural environment through guided walks, observation and sensory experiences.
🔍 Inquiry-Based Learning
Teachers encourage children to observe, wonder and ask questions such as “这是什么?” “为什么?” and “你发现了什么?”
💬 Meaningful Mandarin Communication
New vocabulary and sentence structures are introduced naturally through real experiences and conversations.
🎨 Creative Extension Activities
Depending on the theme, children may participate in nature art, storytelling, movement, games or simple hands-on projects.
What Children Can Develop
Through the programme, children can gradually develop:
Mandarin vocabulary • Observation skills • Confidence in speaking • Curiosity • Communication skills • Environmental awareness
Who Is It For?
Recommended Age: 3–6 years
Suitable for children with different levels of Mandarin exposure. Activities and teacher support are adjusted according to children's age and language ability.
Our Learning Philosophy
We don't want children to simply remember the Chinese word for “leaf”.
We want them to find a leaf, touch it, observe it, talk about it and become curious about it — in Mandarin.
Explore. Discover. Communicate.

Music & Storybook
Stories Come Alive Through Music, Movement and Play.
Picture books open the door to imagination, while music gives children another way to experience and express language.
Music & Storybook combines carefully selected Chinese picture books with songs, rhythm, movement, instruments, role-play and creative activities to create an immersive Mandarin learning experience.
Children are not expected to simply sit and listen to a story. They are invited to predict, sing, move, respond, imagine and participate.
What Happens in Our Classes?
📖 Interactive Storytelling
Teachers use expressive storytelling, questions, props and visual materials to help children understand and engage with each story.
🎵 Music & Rhythm
Songs, rhythm games and simple instruments help children experience the sounds and patterns of Mandarin in an enjoyable way.
💃 Movement & Drama
Children may imitate characters, act out story scenes or use movement to express ideas and emotions.
💬 Language Exploration
Key vocabulary and useful sentence structures are introduced naturally through the story and repeated in different activities.
🎨 Creative Expression
Art, sensory play or simple projects may be incorporated to extend children's understanding of the story.
What Children Can Develop
Listening • Speaking • Vocabulary • Story comprehension • Imagination • Confidence • Social interaction
Most importantly, children begin to associate Mandarin with stories, emotions, music and enjoyable experiences.
Who Is It For?
Recommended Age: 3–6 years
Especially suitable for children who enjoy stories, music and interactive learning, including children who may be less confident speaking Mandarin.
Our Learning Philosophy
A picture book is more than a book.
It can become a song, a conversation, a game, a performance and a world for children to explore.
When children become emotionally connected to a story, language becomes meaningful.
Listen. Imagine. Express.

Primary Chinese Foundation
Build Strong Foundations. Grow With Confidence.
A strong foundation in Chinese is not built through memorisation alone.
Primary Chinese Foundation supports primary school students in developing essential Chinese language skills while helping them understand how to use the language with greater confidence.
Lessons combine structured language learning with interactive activities, reading, discussion and guided practice. Teachers identify each student's learning needs and provide appropriate support according to their level and pace.
Key Learning Areas
🔤 Pinyin & Pronunciation
Strengthen Pinyin recognition, pronunciation and spelling to support independent reading and vocabulary learning.
🀄 Vocabulary & Character Recognition
Build useful vocabulary and strengthen students' ability to recognise, understand and use Chinese characters.
📖 Reading & Comprehension
Develop reading strategies and guide students to identify key information, understand context and answer comprehension questions more effectively.
✏️ Sentence Building & Writing
Help students progress from vocabulary to sentences and eventually express their ideas more clearly in writing.
💬 Speaking & Expression
Encourage students to explain their ideas, describe experiences and communicate confidently in Mandarin.
Beyond Getting the Right Answer
We want students to understand why an answer is correct.
Instead of relying only on repetitive worksheets, teachers use questioning, examples and guided practice to help children understand language patterns and develop independent learning strategies.
What Students Can Develop
Pinyin • Vocabulary • Character recognition • Reading • Comprehension • Writing • Oral expression • Learning confidence
Who Is It For?
Recommended for Primary 1–6 students
Suitable for students who:
Need stronger Chinese foundations
Want to improve reading and comprehension
Need support with vocabulary or writing
Lack confidence in using Mandarin
Would benefit from more individual guidance
Our Learning Philosophy
Chinese should not become a subject children are afraid of.
Our goal is to help students move from:
“I don't know.” → “I understand.” → “I can try.” → “I can do it myself.”
Build Foundations. Build Confidence.

Small Group Classes
Small Class. More Attention. Better Learning.
Our Small Group Classes are designed for students who benefit from personalised guidance while still enjoying the interaction and motivation of learning with peers.
